Inspiration

I feel called to devote myself to inspired living, so I think that guides my next question:

what is inspiration?

Ron, can you help me collect the questions that have come up here and in our dialogues?

I want to use them for the game.

 I am working out the quests kickoff points and connections to story elements. Message from Ron that inspired how to mark advancing to the next level in the game:

there is an ancient Sufi song

so probably from northern Africa

it goes something like this :

return again

return again

return to the land of your heart

return again

return again

return to the land of your hear

return to who your are

return to where you are

return to what you are

born and reborn again

(two people sing this face to face, they stand, the make certain movement to their own heart AND to the heart of the other person, then when song is done you go to the next person (one inner circle faces one outer circle)

Ron's book The Theory of Attention inspired me with the realization that the artist define his/her expression with their attention and intention. He expressed that his intention was to share the book as a work of art, not to be approached as a book per se but with art where we are positioned to bring ourselves to the work in a more open way. I felt it removed many barriers to approaching the subject.

This struck me as intellectual and heart(creative) freedom in a way that had more meaning that one usually finds in modern art. I think that was the start of considering what I really wanted to do/create/express.

Anita's bowl

When I saw Anita's work the first time I was immediately struck by their warmth and it actually reminds me what traditional people have known as power objects. In the Orisha tradition I have always wanted to collect the "working" carvings with the middle section hallowed out as the place where offering were placed. Later I began how to express that idea in a context that looked ahead instead backwards. I had come to see through the what is peace project conception that our history is a part of us, we don't have to keep looking back to make sure it is still there. The parts that nourish sustain us and support our growth.

I had an idea for a large pendulum-sundial sculputre as the center of an installation as venue. I needed something to cast a mold of for this large swinging object.

When I saw Anita's bowl I was struck that she had created exactly what I needed before I knew I needed it. I had a friend, Lucy, who used to say to me "What you are seeking is already seeking you" The more I saw of her work the more I knew I wanted to learn ceramics from her. Her work inspires me to experiment with her deign style/approach in larger scale works....both temporal and permanent public art.

Ron what is the link for the CMS software your friend has done?

Pras' work with Social Computer was/is inspiring on a massive level because it is approaching the same quesitons from a social technology-art based perspective. His work has evolved and work does, especially when so connected to technology. He is now working on Civil Sandbox got a messge from him as I was working on this :-)

There is lots of convergence in the kind of ideas we are interested in...Pras has been extremely generous and open in sharing his work and working documents with me. This combined Jenny and Ron's help has really helped me find the technology touch points. I find this to be an excellent example of Source:Convergence in a very specific tech slant.

 Question that came up in one of our last dialogues that is still hanging out their....

what is organism?

I have been thinking about that as part of the wave, water drops metaphor in connection with the organism as part of the ecosystem,...

Here is his 30 second pitch for Civil Sandbox
