1st Event:Exhibition in Macedonia
This 1st event will officially introduce the Cultual_Fusion Source:Collaboration series in support of the MDGs
In September 2001 the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted a resolution to establish the UN International Day of Peace, a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, 21 September annually Organization:NGO_Art_Studio and Center for International Relations (CIR) in Washington DC organizing and promoting the Peace One Day event commitment on September 21 2006.
As part of my colloboration with Irena and Organization:NGO_Art_Studio i'm providing consultancy services to implement the strategic plan developed for them that helped spark the conception of this project. Here the result was the following festival program proposal and timeline. A version of which will later be submitted by Irena to UNoffice.
There will be a festival event to coordinate with International Peace-One-Day. While the what-is-peace Project will extend beyond a single day event. I'm exploring how to include both music and oral traditions linked with visual arts.
1) Event will be taken in two separate places. One is gallery Mala Stanica Skopje in which we exhibit the Art:Work on the subject of Peace that will be on display for two weeks. On the Event:Exhibition opening a famous piano player from Kosovo will open the Event with musical theme. Then the special guest will give their speech about the values of Peace, such is actors, politician Samet Dalipi from Kosovo, embassies representatives from Macedonia and Macedonian political guests. This will impact and ultimately produce an international cultural exchange program through Balkan region and will mark a beginning of new peaceful multicultural peaceful Collaborations initiatives between the countries. The second phase of Event will be on the open public place in Skopje in which Macedonian artist will perform a concert for all citizens.
Then all event activities will be documented in DVD short film which will be sent to UN Peace One Day committee and later incorporated into a multimedia Installation for a later Event:Exhibition as part of the Project:what-is-peace Installations by Yvette Dubel and collorating artist(s).
Historically, this event will make important steps toward peacebuilding and conflict resolutions in Balkan countries with unique aproaches, using art and creativity as universal language for mulitcultural cooperation, tolerance and good will within a diverse Macedonian society.
2) CIR will promote the Peace One Day Organization:NGO_Art_Studio partnership on its International Affairs Forum website (www.ia-forum.org).
3) CIR will work with Organization:NGO_Art_Studio to create the promotional materials for the event, including a possible video address from:
- Dr. John J. Tierney, Jr., former. Executive Director of the United State House of Representatives Caucus on National Defense in Washington DC
- Dr. Julie Mertus, Professor of International Affairs at American University in Washington DC and Co-Director of the MA program in Ethics and Peace
